Collectors of Larry Le Brane’s whimsical, one-of-a-kind sculptures usually anticipate his latest creations.
…And that pleases the mixed-media artist, who designs unique functional and decorative art for home, office and garden settings. Larry cleverly combines colorful fused-glass, metal, wood, leather and found objects into well-crafted sculpture, fountains, garden wind-bells, glasscapes, dishware, and lamps.
His designs blend a love of manipulating unusual materials, detailed craftsmanship, with a street-wise and academic background. After a childhood of sketching, and a high school without art classes, Larry received an M.F.A. from the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and taught fine art at Orange Coast Community College for 30+ years. Now living on California’s Central Coast, he’s a selective scavenger, haunting thrift shops and garage sales for second hand objects to be recycled with colorful fused glass into eye-pleasing creations.
