Laurel Sherrie creates oil paintings inspired by Nature, whether landscape, seascape, skyscape. With brush or palette knife and an unabashed usage of color, she captures passing moments of beauty occurring from interplays of light, wind, time of day and season. She treasures painting “plein air” (on location) which facilitates a complete absorption in the wild and beautiful places she loves.
Her work can be found in beautiful wineries, restaurants and scenic places in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties. Her art has been on the cover of the SkyWest and Delta Connection Airlines magazine, and Vine Times Magazine, a magazine about California wine and wineries.

I have a passion for California and her many varied scenes. I am drawn to the back roads of San Luis Obispo County where I find endless inspiration in the mountains, rolling hills, pastures, and shoreline. I love color and use a lot of vivid color in my landscapes. I love oil paint, the feel of it, the ability to paint wet into wet, and create texture. And I love that it has such a long and respected heritage. I use oils to duplicate special scenes and moments so that I can share these special times and scenes with others.
I have created many paintings for clients (commissions) where they have a special scene they want me to paint. I enjoy collaborating with clients.
I also give private lessons in my studio, geared especially toward beginning oil painters.
