Julie Dunn takes a very creative approach to painting and presents a unique style known as Tempera Batik painting on paper.  Her work is full of vibrant color and has an appealing textural surface reminiscent of traditional fabric batiks and woodblock prints.  Collectors of her work are attracted to both the abstract and representational qualities found in her paintings.  Julie offers original paintings, limited edition fine art prints, trivets, mugs and cards of her work. She has won several awards for her paintings and will accept commissions.

Julie beautifully depicts California's Central Coast, with paintings of landscapes, seascapes and the infamous "wine country." She also has many compelling images of endangered species and exotic flowers. "My paintings are a personal reflection of the world around me.  I truly enjoy creating works of art that are inspirational and uplifting!  In an era filled with high technology, stress and an endless stream of 'bad news,' I prefer to draw attention to things that are quite beautiful and often overlooked, in our fast-paced, modern lifestyle.  I believe that when an artist paints from the heart about things which they find meaningful, the honesty and depth of feeling is reflected in their work."

 With a BA degree in drawing and painting, and a teaching credential in Art Education, Julie's art career has spanned over 25 years and has included graphic design, architectural illustration, interior design, textile art-to-wear, commissioned illustrations, murals, teaching and exhibitions.  She now enjoys painting, exhibiting, co-owning The Gallery at the Network and giving demonstrations and workshops in her specialized technique.  A full explanation on how to create this beautiful art can be found on Julie's website.
