Passiflora Mosaics

Our collaborative designs combine a folk art flare for recycling with the whimsy of pique assiette and the elegance of traditional mosaics.  Materials include tile, stone, pebbles, shells, china, glass, ceramics and recycled metals.  Previous works include private and public installations ranging from decorative to functional: garden wall murals, water features, mosaic and found object sculptures, garden benches, fireplace surrounds, pebble mosaic wall art and garden features, tables, clocks, birdhouses, birdbaths, mirrors, address signs and more.  Our sculptures range from hanging trash can fish to mosaic over lightweight polystyrene & concrete or rebar, wire mesh and concrete.

‘A passion for smashin’ best describes our love for making mosaic art.We are self taught artists specializing in mixed media mosaics, found object art and concrete sculpture.  Our work is a collaboration of two unique approaches that result in a distinct style all our own.  Together we’ve created a working studio that spills over into the surrounding grounds with colorful mosaic snakes set into cracks in the concrete, hanging trash can fish sculptures, concrete mushrooms and succulents that dot the garden beds and spiral up into statuesque mosaic lamp posts.  We live with our art; it has become part of our lives.

Donnell. “I develop a special attachment to each mosaic I make, as thousands of pieces come together to create beauty that others appreciate and love as much as I.  Currently my passion is sculpting whimsical creatures from Styrofoam and concrete and bringing them to life by covering them in mosaic.”

Fred, “I enjoy taking unique and funky materials, reinventing them into objects of art.   This is demonstrated in my hanging trash can fish sculptures and mosaic “Spitting Image” caricature wall fountains.  I allow the materials to drive each design and let instinct rather than rules dictate the direction a piece will take.”
