Clay has been my livelihood and passion for the last 35 years. I have a BA in art from Cal State Fullerton where I studied under the tutelage of Jerry Rothman. Besides traditional clay influences, abstract paintings have always been a source of inspiration and fascination in my work.
The three dimensional qualities of clay have allowed me to use it as a canvas for painting and at the same time, make functional objects. The use of engobes and slips, glazes and under glazes, and techniques such as multi-clay wedging, incising, faceting, fluting and bas-relief are all part of my program.

My goal is to produce reasonably priced functional pottery with an aesthetic content. I use life influences for the contents of my work. Subject matter depends on what I find interesting. Landscapes, fish, oak trees, politicians masquerading as sea creatures and even the Fullerton City Council have seen my interpretations.
As the years progress, I find that clay is not only under my fingernails, but is also in my blood. Each day is a new adventure. As long as I have mobility, clay will be my life.
