I like throwing on the wheel. When I make functional pieces, the balance I feel in my hands is very important. I want to make the plate that you search for when you are serving your friends appetizers or the bowl you prefer eating your soup out of. My wife and I have spent quite a bit of time in Mexico and Central America. The bright colors of the Guatemalan “chicken buses” or Caribbean markets have strongly influenced my glazing palette. I like color and I especially like the contrast between bright colors and the earthenware red-brown clay.
